Book # 3: 101 Slow-Cooker Recipes from Gooseberry Patch

About the Book
This cookbook is full of quick and easy recipes for comfort food and family favorites made in a slow cooker. The ingredients are easy to find and there are a variety of entrees, sides, and dessert recipes.  I had previously made the French Dip Sandwiches and Hearty Beef Stew which were in heavy rotation at our house for a long time.  This is a slim spiral-bound book and it had slipped behind other books on my shelf, causing to to be forgotten for the last several years.  I'm glad I found it and was reminded of the comforting recipes it contains!

About the Author
Gooseberry Patch is a cookbook publisher that encourages readers to submit recipes for inclusion in their cookbooks. They have published over 100 cookbooks, all full of easy-to-make home-style recipes.

Why I Chose This Recipe
I made Praline Apple Crisp, found on page 43. I've been wanting to venture into dessert making in my slow-cooker. I had an abundance of Granny Smith apples and all of the other ingredients on hand, including the toffee baking bits.

How Was It?
This made the house smell amazing while it was cooking!  I had sliced the apples a little too thin so they fell apart while cooking more than they should have.  Everyone in the family thought it was delicious.  In fact.....the recipe says it makes 10 servings and the four of us ate the whole thing!

What’s Next?
The next cookbook in my Cook the Bookshelf Challenge will be '101 Things To Do With Ramen' by Toni Patrick.  This is my daughter's new cookbook so she will be helping out!
