Saturday's Dinner: Pasta Puttanesca and Caesar Salad

Tonight I made Pasta Puttanesca from my Cooking Light Annual Recipes 2009 cookbook.  This was an excellent recipe, well liked by everyone.  Considering the list of ingredients I'm surprised this was such a hit:  Anchovies! Vodka!  Kalamata olives!  Crushed red peppers!  If the kids knew what was on their plates there is no way they would have tried it, let alone have multiple servings of it.

I also made Easy Caesar Salad from my Cooking Light Annual Recipes 2008 cookbook.  I've made a lot of Caesar Salads and this one was definitely good but I would not consider the recipe easy.  The dressing is made on the stove and involves mixing eggs with a warm olive oil mixture, something that can easily end up being greasy scrambled eggs.  This is good enough to make again but I think I will stick to my food processor version.

  2. I just realized....not only did everyone eat a meal full of 'unusual ingredients'.....no one asked where the meat was! A miracle!
